On the Spine of Time

Holston River below the Weir Dam

“Sooner or later you’ve got to let loose of certainty’s hand and leap.
Jump. Believe in something, like mountains and mountain streams,
trout and mountain people.”

  1. Wonderful thought. It seems that I get exactly what I need every day here on your blog – mostly encouragement that I will make it, no matter how bad it looks. Thank you, Lee. I am so glad that I’ve found your blog.

  2. Yep.

How can I not comment on the thought of believing in mountain people??

This photo reminds me of a story.

My daddy got his name in the paper when he was boy, because he rescued a tourist woman who fell in and was being swept away by the current of the Little Pigeon River through Gatlinburg.

After he dragged her to the safety of the river bank, he reprimanded her, “You oughtna been a drinkin’ with them men!” 🙂
